A practical sequence

Put the official record before the plastic.

Citizenship starts with the decree. Records and documents make that status usable in daily life.

Step 01

Day 0: verify the decree and certificate

Naturalization or restoration takes effect on the decree date. Check your official names and keep the authority’s collection instructions.

Step 02

First weeks: ask where your civil record belongs

Contact the competent municipality or GRAO about civil registration, EGN and permanent address. The exact path depends on your facts and existing records.

Step 03

After the record: apply in person for documents

Apply through the competent Interior Ministry office or consulate. An ID card or passport proves identity and citizenship later; it does not create citizenship.

Learn how and where to vote

Check the CEC for dates, voter lists and polling abroad. Citizenship does not mean automatic online voting.

Check tax and health status from the facts

Residence, work, centre of interests and insurance—not citizenship alone—usually determine tax residence and health coverage.
